Our highly-experienced solicitors are focused on completing the legal process as quickly as possible. For more information, please see our “how long does conveyancing take” page.
Bromley is a district of south east London, England, located 9.3 miles (15.0 km) south east of Charing Cross.[2] It is the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Bromley, and identified as a major metropolitan centre in the London Plan.
Bromley was historically a market town chartered since 1158 and an ancient parish in the county of Kent.[3] Its location on a coaching route and the opening of a railway station in 1858 were key to its development, and the economic history of Bromley is underpinned by a shift from an agrarian village to commerce and retail. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Bromley significantly increased in population and was incorporated as a municipal borough in 1903. It has developed into one of a handful of regionally significant commercial and retail districts outside central London[4] and has formed part of Greater London since 1965, but is still considered by some to be part of Kent due to its historic postal county.[5] Most of Bromley including the town centre falls under the BR1 postcode district, whereas areas to the west towards Shortlands are part of BR2 instead.
London, or Greater London, is a region of England which forms the administrative boundaries of London. It is organised into 33 local government districts: the 32 London boroughs (which makes up the ceremonial county of Greater London) and the City of London (which is a separate county but still part of the region). The Greater London Authority, based in Southwark, is responsible for strategic local government across the region and consists of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.
The region covers 1,572 km2 (607 sq mi) and had a population of 8,174,000 at the 2011 census. In 2012, it had the highest GVA per capita in the United Kingdom at £37,232. The Greater London Built-up Area—used in some national statistics—is a measure of the continuous urban area of London, and therefore includes areas outside of the administrative region.
